EANA condemns the killing of Ukrinform journalist Tetiana Kulyk in Russian drone attack

The European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) expresses profound sorrow and indignation over the tragic death of Ukrinform journalist Tetiana Kulyk, who was killed in her home during a Russian drone attack on the Kyiv region in the early hours of February 26, 2025, that destroyed her house.

Tetiana Kulyk served as the editor-in-chief of Ukrinform’s Main Multimedia Editorial Office and was the host of the “Nation of the Invincibles” program. Her unwavering commitment to journalism and her dedication to highlighting the resilience and heroism of the Ukrainian people have been deemed invaluable by her colleagues in Ukrinform.

“The loss of Tetiana Kulyk is a profound tragedy, not only for her family and colleagues at Ukrinform but also when considering the fact that she was actually a civilian, in her own home, struck by a drone. We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues in Ukrinform. This dramatic incident underscores the horrors of the war waged by Russia in Ukraine, which has taken so many innocent lives. I hope this was not a targeted attack against the Ukrinform journalist”, said EANA Secretary General Alexandru Giboi.

EANA stands in solidarity with member agency Ukrinform and all journalists who risk their lives to deliver truthful reporting, once again calling for greater protection measures for media professionals and for accountability for those who perpetrate violence against journalists.
