EANA calls for support for journalists working in war zones following death of Anadolu Ajansi cameraman in Gaza
The European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) expresses deep regret over the death of Anadolu Ajansı freelance journalist Hassan Hamad, who was killed in recent Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. EANA’s Board strongly denounces any form of violence that might target journalists, underscoring the essential role they serve in providing accurate information from conflict zones.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Hassan Hamad. In these difficult times, we reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding the lives of journalists reporting from Gaza. This tragic event acts as an unwanted reminder that media professionals that do their jobs in high-risk areas need more acknowledgement and support from authorities and from everyone involved,” said Alexandru Giboi, EANA Secretary General.
